And so it goes...

Why study Buddhist texts on impermanence when I can just sit here and watch Thursday slip away?
Sy Safransky

...the clouds drift by on an unseasonably hot day, and my cold enters its second week...coincidentally...I hope...just when the world’s been freaking out about swine flu...I’ll start worrying about that when the total number of deaths from the pandemic approach those from car crashes or cigarettes on the average day...

...the combination of last week’s rain and this week's high temperature seems to have made the buds explode like firecrackers...new green leaves, flowers, pollen everywhere...and last week’s fever gave way to this week’s stuffy, irritated nose...haven’t been to yoga class in over a week...done almost no writing...no biking...barely any walking...a little reading, but not much...a bit of deep thinking but, really, very little...

...and so it goes...

My guess is the Buddhist would say even though you thought you were doing very little, you were actually achieving peace with the oneness of yourself, or some such... (I'm a little confused about it.)

But I also had to stop going to yoga due a bruised rib. Not doing things can sometimes make you think more than doing them...

Jay--I'm really sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. There are some nasty bugs going around here (that aren't the swine flu) and I send healing energy your way.

Sometimes we have to allow ourselves to simply heal--not to worry about accomplishments, or keeping up what we normally do--or even having deep thoughts! When I'm sick I like to lay on the couch and watch old "I Love Lucy" reruns--that always cheers me up. Lucy will probably get you thinking those deep thoughts again! :)

Spring has definitely arrived in Massachusetts this weekend (or maybe even summer). I love spring--love seeing buds coming on the trees. I'm so ready for summer! I hope you feel better really soon so you can enjoy it.

Feel better soon, Dr. Jay.

I hope you get well again soon so you can enjoy your spring weather. Maybe all those folks wearing face masks have got the right idea for a pollen filled spring?

sometimes our body as well as our mind decide to let go of everything... just to be... just to watch the world drifting away... then we get ill... most of the time it's not bad... soon you bloom like those buds...

just take care of yourself... don't expect yourself too much!

may all the things you see, you hear, you touch, you taste, you smell and you think of bring you a healing energy...

the paintings you choose for your posts are always a WOW!

Hi drjay and so glad that you're still with us! We here at earthtoholly were a little worried about ya...bein' just recently home from south of the border and all...

So where is our spring??? Down here, too, we went from 50s to almost 90s. Too hot...poor Lucy doesn't like it.

Hope that you're all better soon and that when you do fully recover, so does the weather. Some 70s days would be nice...

Being in allergy hell, I can relate.

Sometimes watching Thursday slip away is being just where you need to be.

Sounds sucky.

You can y'know, do some very gentle yoga - the Pawanmuktasana series for example. Or, just do some yoga nidra. That would contribute towards you getting better, most definitely.

And get Olive Leaf Extract from the health food shop (if you have it). Its is utterly brilliant for helping you get better, especially from colds that just hang around.

Other than that, I hope you've got plenty of stuff on DVD to watch?

Get better soon!

Weird huh?

The image reminds one of Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables. Missing out on physical yoga does not mean you do not actively engage in dream yoga. You may do this unconsciously to heal soul. This post may capture attention:

At least you have taken note of the explosion of life all around. It's a start. ;)
Feel better.

So, I take it that you are not a big fan of The Staycation being reported as the new thing in this economy.
Seriously, I know that being sick is just what svasti said: sucky. I sure hope that you feel better in the next couple of days.

Just for a moment, I'd like to switch places with that little girl in the painting... And here's wishing you speedy impermanence with your cold

I love that quote, if we all just gave a little appreciation to the art of doing "nothing" the world might be a better place.

I gave you an award on my blog, come by and claim your prize...

This is how I felt a few days ago when I was watching the weekend slip away...Sometimes, it's all we can do.
